Staying at the X Bar Ranch Nature Retreat just isn't complete without getting out and indulging in the great outdoors. Because hectic and full schedules are what most of us are trying to escape when away from home or office, activities on the X Bar Ranch are self-paced according to YOUR schedule. |

See/print our Trail Map Incredible, mostly single track, mountain bike trails have been developed with nothing but FUN in mind. And if hiking has to be a part of your day, then all you've got to do is step out your cabin door.
|
| You will find trails that have been established for hikers only, complete with a look-out/picnic area and shady rest stops along the way. There is a mile and a half loop from the lodge. If that is not far enough, then we still have three-mile, nine-mile and 12-mile inner-connecting multi-use loops. | ![]() |

This is an ideal refuge for anyone wanting to view the natural splendor of a
dark Texas sky. Lighting concerns have been addressed for anyone from serious amateur astronomers to casual star gazers
at the Live Oak Lodge & Cabins and at
the Round House. All interior and exterior lights have switches so they can be turned on or off at will. The observing
field is
always dark and is about a quarter mile from the lodge. We're open year round
for viewing pleasure during all seasons. Except for an occasional cloudy night, our exceptional dark skies put on an
exhilirating nightly performance.

Enjoy the cool water on a hot summer day. Lounge on the deck around the pool and take in the
beautiful panoramic view of the area. A dip after dark isn't bad either under the stary skies. The pool is
at the Live Oak Lodge and is operational from late-May through September.
