The X Bar Ranch would like to thank Cliff Shackelford and Linda Campbell, both with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, for their help in starting the ranch bird list and to all others who have contributed to it.

The list is a work in progress and is added to periodically. All suggestions and comments from previous groups have helped us immensely in preparing for the enjoyment of future birders and groups. Your input is also welcome.

All overnight lodging guests to the ranch are offered a complimentary copy of
the Field Checklist of Birds for the Concho Valley Region, Texas.

Trails have been established exclusively for hikers and birders, complete with a look-out area and shady rest stops along the way. There is a mile and a half hikng loop from the Live Oak Lodge plus the additional 15 miles of multi-use trails. In addition to the wildlife viewing area at the pond, the native flower gardens, fountains and feeders just off the back deck of the lodge provide for hours of comfortable and enjoyable viewing.
